Sharing Resources in Chat

Share files, documents, tasks, and emails directly into any Z-Chat conversation using slash commands or the Forward button.

Z-Chat lets you bring content from other Z-Cloud apps — Files, Docs, Tasks, and Mails — directly into any conversation without leaving the chat window.

Slash Commands: /files, /docs, /tasks

Type / in the message input to open the slash command picker, then choose a command.

CommandWhat it shares
/filesFiles stored in Z-Files
/docsCollaborative documents from Z-Docs
/tasksIssues/tasks from Z-Tasks projects

How to use

  1. In the message input, type /files, /docs, or /tasks (or just / to pick from the menu).
  2. A search picker opens — type to filter and select one or more items.
  3. Press Enter or click Confirm to insert a formatted link into your message.
  4. The link appears as a clickable card with an icon: 📎 for files, 📄 for docs, ✅ for tasks.

Access control

When you share a resource, Z-Chat automatically creates a secure share token that limits access to current room members only. People outside the room cannot open the link.

Note: If the token creation fails (e.g. a network issue), the system falls back to a direct URL that requires the recipient to already have access in the respective app.

Forwarding an Email to Chat

From Z-Mails, you can forward any email directly into a Z-Chat conversation.

  1. Open the email you want to share.
  2. Click the Forward to Z-Chat button (envelope icon in the toolbar).
  3. Select one or more direct messages or group channels to receive the email.
  4. Click Send.

The email appears in chat as a rich card showing:

  • Subject, sender, recipients, and date
  • Full email body (rendered HTML)
  • List of attachments (with inline preview via Z-Preview)

Security: Forwarded emails are encrypted with a share token — only members of the selected rooms can open them.

Viewing Shared Content

Clicking a shared link opens an inline preview panel without leaving the chat:

  • Files — Full Z-Preview viewer (Office docs, PDFs, images, video, code, etc.)
  • Docs — Read-only document view
  • Tasks — Task detail card (status, priority, assignees, description)
  • Emails — Full email card with attachments
